Nobody wants to be overweight. It is known throughout this country that obesity is becoming more and more common. Who is to blame? Television advertising.

Advertising agencies constantly flood commercials with food ads about French fries and chicken nuggets. The fact is they want us to spend more money on food so that we spend more money on diet pills. Then, when we get skinny, we would be able to spend more money on food. It is a vicious cycle.

Fact: about 70% of the adult population living in the U.S is overweight.

If you are thin and healthy, you make up the minority.

This needs to change today. To accept that being obese is now the norm, is just absurd.

So what is the cause of obesity? Living a sedentary life. Kids nowadays are spending more time on the internet and playing video games then being active outside and involved in sports activities. Some schools are even considering cancelling physical education.

Also, we ourselves are not watching the foods we eat. Everything is becoming fast food and most fast food is unhealthy. Most foods that are bought in stores are processed with chemicals called preservatives to preserve shelf life. This fast paced society is why we do not have the time to prepare our own meals and why we turn to buy our meals which most of the time, is just plain junk.
